JOHANNESBURG - South
Africa's purchasing managers' index rose to 51.6 index points in
November from 50.5 in October, just managing to stay above the key 50
mark and posting four monthly increases, data showed on Thursday.
Survey sponsor Kagiso said even though the index was bucking the international trend of declines, it had still not recovered from labour strikes in July that hit business activity.
Purchasing managers showed increased concern about future prospects with a decrease in expected business conditions and new sales orders - which has the largest weighting.
Business activity however rose, pointing to some improvement in activity.
